Oooookay, let's get the elephant in the room out of the way first. This page looks bad. >.> Real bad. But I have an excuse. I started using a new software for the comic, namely Manga Studio 5. Once I properly learn all the ins and outs of it, I'm confident this software will help me make the comic look great. But right now, at least in this first passing, it looks terrible compared to the clean lines I can get out of CorelDraw. (The tradeoff is that doing the comic in Corel is extremely limited since it isn't really geared towards work beyond layout art.)

Anyways...bare with me as I learn MangaStudio, please. :) I promise it'll get better over time. I was up all night trying to fine tune this, and I think I learned enough tricks that'll make the second page done in the software much better.

Okay! It's 6 AM, I'm exhausted, and rambling. XD Have a good week everyone!

you too are a Manga Studio Addict!

:) you know about the 3d drawing dummies? they help a lot with perspective! :)

Don't be so harsh! It's probably not quite as clean as the previous pages, but it's hardly horrible or anything. The only criticism I would offer--in the name of being honest, not trying to be a jerk--is on Alice's face in her first appearance and her body in the second. Fine tune that and I'd have no issues with this page.

Switching from one software to another, and mastering all its quirks until they become second nature, can be a royal pain in the butt. Anyone who won't cut you as much slack as you need for that can go jump in the lake.

@Calico Jack:
dinĀ“t mean to be harsh! i was merely talking about a new function in the manga studio...i found it useful...and was merely asking if Diceknight knew about it...since its pretty obscure since its relative new...

Er...whoops... @ MecanicalCH
Sorry, should have clearer--my fault entirely. Nothing I said was directed towards your comment, I meant the line "This page looks bad >.>. Real bad." No, it doesn't. And there's nothing wrong with asking about the drawing dummies as far as I'm concerned, for the record. When I talked about people cutting the artist slack for the software transition, I meant any hypothetical viewers out there who might have read the explanation and still wanted to grumble about it. (I'm not big on the idea of artists apologizing for their work. Explaining, fine, just not apologizing. If the audience doesn't like it, they can always look someplace else.)

I'll try to be clearer next time.

@Calico Jack (Guest):
seems we both thought we have a misleading comment! XD

@Calico Jack: Thanks. :) Switching software is definitely tricky. I've been researching the past few days on how to get my linework as smooth as it was in Corel; though so far it's eluding me. I plan to keep scouring though. I've seen some of the stuff people can do in Manga Studio, and the program has great capabilities. I just need to figure them out!

@MecanicalCH: I've played around with the 3D dummies, they're neat! I'm a little hesitant to use them for the comic though, since Wootlabs characters don't have a very proportionate figure. (Big heads, etc.) I'm afraid they might start looking like (gasp) actual people.

well they can be customized...and all the body can be resized with the menu that pops up when adding the 3d dummy you know the one on the bottom of the dummy the symbol that has a bone allows you to make changes up from -50 to 50 the original size! of each part of the body with out deforming the symmetry of the doll :) with it you may adapt one custom body for each character and it will help you sometimes :)

Haha, looks like you switched over to manga Studio pretty much the same time I did! So I can identify with that initial frustration. But I'm looking forward to seeing art get better as you get used to the software over these next few pages. One of the fun things about an archive binge. ^_^
