Odd indeed, how a pep talk after a high school breakup can totally apply to a situation where you're a superhero whose significant other has been captured by a magical ant, who then makes a move to take over the city!

I always feel weird writing comics that don't have a joke at the end, since it IS a webCOMIC. Amy's Mom is fun to write for, but still lacks a punchline. A lot of old comics have been more serious than funny; it's been hard finding a balance sometimes.

Anyway! Nearing the end of the Wizard Ant Strikes arc! Not sure how many more comics, since there's a lot of loose ends to tie up, but pretty soon we'll have some leaked details about the next issue! Hint: It's already been hinted at within this arc!

The thing about joke-heavy comics is that they can take serious twists like this, and it's even more potent because you use it sparingly.

Like, I am bigass 32 year old man with Ice Hockey-induced brain damage and knuckle scars and a beard that disoriented hikers sometimes stagger out of, and I shed tears when I thought Rusty died, dammit, it's happening again, brb.

...

Ok. Anyway. You've got a good instinct for balancing humor and drama, so no need to apologize!

I do believe Wizard Ant is in trouble now!

Awww. As bizarre as her Mom's terminology might be, she communicates very well. No wonder Amy became a hero with a good, supportive parent like that.
